Method and System for Assisting a User with Closing Advertisements on Touch Interface Devices

Disclosed is a method and system for assisting a user with closing one or more advertisements on a touch interface device by either resizing and/or moving a close button displayed on the touch interface device for the one or more advertisements based on the user's interactions with previously displayed advertisements. The touch interface device can be, but need not be limited to, a mobile device, a smartphone, a laptop, or any other handheld device.

The method and system develops a profile based on the user's behavior and interactions with previously displayed ads from applications running on the touch interface device. The method and system, then, assists the user with closing ads displayed subsequently by resizing and/or moving the close button clickable area based on the user's profile and to better align with a generally acceptable size and location of the close button. For example, based on the user's profile the method and system determines that when the user actually means to click an advertisement, the user clicks on an ad more towards the center and not right next to the close button, based on the user's previous interactions with ads. When the user means to close the ad, they may click instead near to but not always directly on the close button. Thereafter, when an ad

is subsequently displayed, the method and system locates an area of the ad's close button and increases the surface area and sensitivity of the close button. Thus, the method and system creates a standard-sized tolerance zone interpreting that the user has clicked on the close button even if the user did not click on the exact location of close button.

In an exemplary embodiment, the method and system tracks the user's interactions with one or more applications and websites via the touch interface device. When the method and system detects an ad displayed in the one or more applications or

websites, the method and system registers a location of the ad on the screen of the touch interface device and a location of the close button for the ad. The ad is displayed either statically or as a pop-up. The method and system, then, develops a profile for the user based on the user's interactions with ads collected over time. For example, the method and system determines based on the user's profile that when an advertisement has an "X" close button in the upper right hand corner of the screen, the user clicks exactly on th...
