Abstract:

A digital icon that shows on a display device such as a touch screen display and indicates to a user where to position a second device capable of NFC communication such that the user's device can establish communication with the device having the display. The digital icon is located at the position on the display nearest where the NFC antenna resides on the circuitry behind the display screen.

Description:

• Rage of NFC is < 20 cm (7.8 inch)

• Thickness circuit boards are < 5 cm (2 inch)

• Sufficient room for typical NFC reader dimension (98.0 mm (L) x 65.0 mm (W) x 12.8 mm (H))

• The icon displayed on the user interface can be any image (preferably one that leads a user to assume it is the location of the NFC antenna to establish communication between device and dispenser)

• Metal Interference Resolution:

- A metal barrier, such as a ferrite foil (or similar) barrier, effectively creates a 'gap' (not an actual gap, but a 'fake' physical gap in terms of electromagnetic induction) so that the antenna can function properly.
