Described is a method of automatically retrieving higher resolution picture on snapshot clip operation from video stream for enhancing snapshot clip definition on video stream service. In one illustrative embodiment, a method of automatically retrieving higher resolution picture on snapshot clip operation from video stream is provided for enhancing snapshot clip definition on video stream service.

    The illustrative embodiment generates a video frame identification and tracking algorithm based on a set of snapshot clip operation rules (such as pause, screen print, replay, interested spots) for managing different resolution frames saved in server side (video sender) .

    The illustrative embodiment checks whether any of the snapshot clip operation signal received is valid with or without user (receiver) notification and confirmation on certain frame on a played video.

    The illustrative embodiment sends the frame ID associated with the snapshot clip operation to the video stream server in server side (video sender). Then, the illustrative embodiment allows the video stream to send a high definition frame to the user's (receiver's) device as snapshotted frame. Figure 1 and Figure 2 below illustrate one implementation.
