A method or system is needed to make using a pervasive (i.e. mobile) device while in motion as safe as possible.

The novel contribution is the design and use of a dynamically changing risk grid. Each user is associated with a risk grid that takes as input shared data from other dynamic and static inputs within the vicinity as well as from online sources. This solution produces a grid for each user, and an associated a risk factor with each grid; this is dynamic and constantly changing. The system is implemented as an application. Users can optionally opt-in or the system can automatically opt-in the user upon installation of the application.

Data is shared between users as well as other sources such as surveillance cameras and data stored in physical objects and moving vehicles. With this technology, sharing data produces an accurate measurement of the likelihood of risk to the user.

Each mobile device automatically generates a view from the device's camera. The view incorporates the view from the device's camera. This view can be improved by the angle of the camera automatically changing to obtain the largest coverage possible for each user.

For each user, the novel system produces a grid within camera range. Each grid section has an allocated risk score calculated specific for that user.
