Abstract

This patent idea is to have a SUC design (one charging circuits only) with switching capability to charge multiple slot of batteries. It will fully charge a battery and switch to charge another battery automatically follow the priority designed. Fast charging solutions is available nowadays and will fully charge a battery within 2 hours, user will be able to fully charge 4 batteries within a shift (8 hours). (ID Concept 1). Abstract

To charge multiple Li Ion batteries, we need a charger that has multiple slots such as DUC, TUC and MUC. These types of charges are design with a bulky size, heavy weight and used multiple charging circuits. This paper is to introduce a SUC design (one charging circuits only) with switching capability to charge multiple slot of batteries. It will fully charge a battery and switch to charge another battery automatically follow the priority designed, referred to Figure 1.

This charger cans also extent to have detachable slot design so that user can have flexibility of adding the number of charging slots accordingly, referred to Figure 2.

1.0  Introduction

Charger is an essential part of radio communication technology nowadays. Since the demand of the radio is rising, the charging technology has grown rapidly. Typical chargers that use to charge multiple batteries will have multiple slots and each slot will be control by a single charger board. With these design, all batteries are allowed to charge simultaneously at one time. For SUC charger, it’s only have one pocket and one single charger board. Users only can charge one battery at one time. For certain user groups who need to fully charge multiple batteries over night/shift and don’t mind slower overall charging time; we have come out concept design that has benefits from both SUC and MUC. It is a SUC design (one charging circuits only) with switching capability to charge multiple slot of batteries. This is the new approach to fulfill the needs of customer of low cost, miniature and light weight MUC solutions.

This charger will consist of power supply, charging circuit, microcontroller, regulator, switches and four charging pockets, referred to Figure 3. (System Block Diagram)

2.0  Sequential charging concept

The sequence charging will be based charging priority. Battery 1 is the top priority followed by Battery 2, Battery 3 and Battery 4. If battery at higher priority inserted when charging lower priority battery, the charging will switch to higher priority battery. If the users see all 4 pockets are inserted with battery and battery 3 is being charging, this means that battery 1 and 2 are fully charged and battery 4 is waiting to be charged.
