Abstract

A method and system is disclosed for delivering one or more advertisements to a user based on predicting routes travelled by a user.

Description

Disclosed is a method and system for delivering one or more advertisements (ads) to a user based on predicting routes travelled by a user.

In an embodiment, the method and system receives user identification (id) from a mobile device of the user and delivers the user id to a user data store.  The mobile device can be, but need not be limited to, a cell phone, a tablet, a laptop, and a navigation device.

The method and system, then, fetches user data from the user data store, such as, but not limited to, demographic information of the user, interests/preferences of the user, the user’s current location and recent history of locations and sends the user data along with the user id to a route estimator.  The user data is also used to determine which other users are likely to have similar routes and times to the user using techniques such as, but not limited to, metric learning, collaborative filtering and similar machine learning technologies. 

Based on the inputs, the route estimator produces a list of estimated routes and estimated times of when the user will traverse the list of estimated routes.  The route estimator uses a Bayesian algorithm to estimate the user's present and future routes to provide the list of estimated routes based o...
