TECHNICAL FIELD

Cooling of electrical motor by using novel structure of stator core sheet pack. Air channels are formed by cutting suitable holes in back iron of stator core sheet pack and arranging sheets so that air can flow through stator core sheet pack.

BACKGROUND OF THE DISCLOSURE AND TECHNICAL PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED

Normally there are radial core ducts, space between stator core laminations provided to permit the radial flow of air to cool motor or generator trough stator core sheet pack. Radial core ducts are often used in high power motors and generators while small motors normally have stator core sheet pack without radial stator core ducts.

When high power density motors are made there is need to increase cooling. Common method is to use liquid cooling by using liquid cooling jacket in which there is liquid piping at outer edge of the stator core sheet pack. Other solution is to blow air trough stator core sheet pack if liquid is not wanted to be used as cooling medium.

Normal radial stator core ducts might be too costly for low power small motors and there might not be space to made needed longer stator core. Proposed stator sheet structure provides simple solution to arrange air cooling flow to the air gap. Similar stator sheets are arranged so that, there are air channels from the outer surface or/and ends of the stator to the air gap. Therefore, air could flow through stator between outer surface or/and ends of the stator and the air gap.

SUMMARY

This invention considers simple solution to arrange air cooling flow to the air gap. Similar stator sheets are arranged so that there are air channels from the outer surface or/and ends of the stator to the air gap. Therefore, air could flow through stator between outer surface or/and ends of the stator and the air gap.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF EMBODIMENTS

Proposed new stator sheets are shaped so that they form air channels in stator stack. The air channels may be formed through the stator and the direction of the axis. The transverse channels extend through channels of the air gap and the back of the stator core sheet pack. The entire stator core is composed of identical stator sheets, but the sheets are piled more of the stator sheet stacks so that the next bundle is always a certain amount rotated to the previous bundle. This enables the formation of transverse air
