Method and System for Providing Dynamic Tags for Indexing and Searching of Contextual Screenshots

Abstract

A method and system is disclosed for providing dynamic tags for indexing and searching of contextual screenshots.  The method and system utilizes content analysis platform (CAP) and computer vision technology to dynamically process the selected text and to predict the content of screenshots.

Description

Searching for a screenshot in a computer is difficult since the screenshots are saved without any of the original context information.  Users should either locate them by manually browsing through folders or by searching for a specific filename.  Operating systems do not provide the users with a lot of flexibility while saving screenshots.  The screenshots are generally saved automatically with predefined naming convention (often appended with metadata like the date and time), or let the users manually specify a name.  Certain third party apps/extensions allow the users to specify a custom screenshot naming convention and make basic modifications to the screenshots before they are saved.  The custom naming convention relies on very basic metadata such as, time, date and name of the application.  The users still need to manually provide additional context about the content of the screenshot either by appending more relevant text to filename, or annotating the original screenshot before the file is saved.  So there is a need of a method and system to effortlessly search for the screenshots.

Disclosed is a method and system for providing dynamic tags for indexing and searching contextual screenshots.  The method and system utilizes content analysis platform (CAP) and computer vision technology to dynamically process the selected text and to predict the content of screenshots.  CAP and computer vision technology generates tags and summarizes the content by annotating the tags to both the original screenshot as well as its metadata so as to allow the users to effortlessly search for the screenshot files.
