Disclosed is a method and system for inferring precise user location based on user’s location history.  The method and system provides a rule based approach to infer a user’s current location.  The rule based approach is based upon computation of a set of features derived using attributes of various past locations and attributes associated with a new request to infer a user’s location.

Figure illustrates a method and system disclosed herein for inferring user’s current location.

In an implementation, the method and system provides data driven rule based approach to infer user’s current location.  The method and system leverages auxiliary informations associated with a past known location of a user such as, but not limited to, time of capture of past location and IP address of the end-user’s device that was used to capture past location.  The method and system performs evaluation of auxiliary information associated with that past known location and the auxiliary information available currently for the end-user.  The evaluation helps to assess whether an arbitrary past known location of the user is his/her current location.  Further, the relative differences in the attribute values of sets of auxiliary information and determined feature space based on relative differences are likely to be mu...
