Abstract

The technical solution of this idea can be applied to every kind of screw connection where two partsneed to be assembled and where a screw nut connection is applied today Depending of thetechnical realization kind of material max torque value etc the application might be limited by theloads The described technical solution allows establishing a screw connection from one side only Thepositioning installation of a part from the other side e g nut or the usage of a tool from the otherside is not necessary Many screw connections are used to connect parts while one side is ergonomically good accessible to position and to fix the screw whereas the other side has a bad accessibility normally used toplace the nut as a counterpart Therefore a screw fixation from one side only will reduce theinstallation time Additionally both parts of the described solution clip screw and nut as well a washer can bepreassembled either outside the vehicle by the worker or even by the supplier This would additionally decrease the installation time and the Lead Time of the assembly To fix the described screw connection a special tool is needed This tool already exist fixation of Hi Lites see Fig 2 The screw nut must be designed in such a way that at least the tool interface canbe used to avoid high investment cost It might be reasonable to modify this tool in order to make itsmaller and more manageable Requirements to be considered for this solution A screw connection shall be feasible from one side only no other part nut washer etc ortool shall be needed on the other side of this fixation The connection shall be secured against jiggling and loosing A certain clamping force shall be applied in a vertical direction on the surface of the parts andnot on the surface of the hole bearing stress like with a raw plug anchor bolt see Fig 1 While fixing the screw with a counterpart nut the screw must not turn into the same directionthan the counterpart

1. ABSTRACT

The technical solution of this idea can be applied to every kind of screw connection where two parts need to be assembled and where a screw / nut connection is applied today. Depending of the technical realization (kind of material, max torque value etc.), the application might be limited by the loads.

The described technical solution allows establishing a screw connection from one side only. The positioning / installation of a part from the other side (e.g. nut) or the usage of a tool from the other side is not necessary.

Many screw connections are used to connect parts while one side is ergonomically good accessible (to position and to fix the screw), whereas the other side has a bad accessibility (normally used to place the nut as a counterpart). Therefore, a screw fixation from one side only, will reduce the installation time.

Additionally, both parts of the described solution (clip-screw and nut) as well a washer can be preassembled, either outside the vehicle by the worker or even by the supplier. This would, additionally, decrease the installation time and the Lead-Time of the assembly.

To fix the described screw connection, a special tool is needed. This tool already exist (fixation of Hi- Lites - see Fig. 2). The screw / nut must be designed in such a way that at least the tool interface can be used, to avoid high investment cost. It might be reasonable to modify this tool, in order to make it smaller and more manageable.

Requirements to be considered for this solution:
- A screw connection shall be feasible from one side only (no other part (nut / washer etc.) or tool shall be needed on the other side of this fixation).

- The connection shall be secured against jiggling and loosing.

- A certain clamping force shall be applied in a vertical direction on the surface of the parts and not on the surface of the hole (bearing stress like with a raw plug / anchor bolt, see Fig. 1)
