Abstract

This article provides a method for drivers to start dark/light adaptations in advance, before enter/exit the dark region or tunnels. It collects environment information, including GPS location, time, driving route and environmental light, and predetermines darkness region in the front, then takes actions to start dark/light adaption of eyes in advance.

The human eyes have dark adaptation and light adaption. The eye takes approximately 20-30 minutes to fully adapt from bright sunlight to complete darkness and become ten thousand to one million times more sensitive than at full daylight. However, it takes approximately five minutes for the eye to adapt to bright sunlight from darkness.

So it is very dangerous when car enter tunnel, or enter shadow of maintain in big sunny day, because eyes of driver need time to adapt darkness from light while car is moving. That means in several seconds when car just enter the dark region, the driver is "blind". He has to look carefully on tenterhooks, and there is big risk to cause traffic accident at that region.

The disclosure is to resolve this issue, to start dark adaptation of driver in advance, so that the driver can see clearly when enter the dark regions.

The disclosure propose a method to start dark/light adaptation in advance, before enter the dark region. One of key points is how to know where is dark region in big sunshine day. In this disclosure, environment information, including GPS location, time, driving route and environmental light are collected, and predetermine darkness region in the front . So it will be known today is big shining day, there is long tunnel at 500 meters ahead, or will enter big mountain shadow moving along this road.

Then need to take action to start dark/light adaption of eyes in advance, for example adjust light in the car, change wind screen color, slow down the speed and open car lamp, etc.
