Today the data transmission is realized via satellite or radio transmission. Both types of transmission may be rather expensive and have a small bandwidth to transmit a large set of data. Data exchange via portable data carrier needs to be done manually.
It is the object of this idea to provide a data transmission on ground with lower costs as well as a data transmission on ground with a high bandwidth. Furthermore it is an object of this idea to provide a remote and automatic data trans- mission on ground, no data exchange via portable data carrier.
The idea is that on ground the ground power supply connection of an aircraft is also used for data transmission be- tween the aircraft and the maintenance center. Several data like "in service monitoring data (Server Application Re- cording DATA, Engineering Data for trouble shooting, system data for predictive maintenance", "software updates (field loadable software for onboard computer and equipment" or "multimedia files (data for In-Flight Entertainment: Videos files, Music files, Games)" can be exchanged between the maintenance center and the aircraft.
Therefore the ground power supply and the aircraft need to be equipped with a power line adapter to be able to use the electrical power supply connection between the ground and the aircraft as network connection. The power line adapter for the ground power supply contains an Ethernet interface, a data processing unit and a modulator and de- modulator as interface to the power supply.
