Breaking news are broadcast in a very fast manner with social application nowadays. Everyone can catch the new event through the published messages by others in his network. While such messages, including genuine and fake information(i.e. rumors), are hard to be differentiated by the platform, and thus cannot provide an effective way to indicate to subscribers if it is true or not.

Some of the hot breaking news are not simply made up of plain text, there are also spot picture or video for other's judgement whether it is true. In this disclosure, we provide a location based approach to evaluate the reliability of such new events, so that subscriber would have chance to decide whether it is true.

Our solution to provide reliability indicator for hot event can be described as follows,
1. The messages to be evaluated must be location based event, when user posts the message, a location tag has to be added in the message body, so that the application platform can locate where the message is being posted, #Location 1
2. The message content need to indicate the location where the event happens. Some of the messages only have plain text mentioning which place has happened what kind of event. For example, #Railway Line 1 Xidan Station, stop service for ten minutes and two crowded at the moment, see #Location 2. While in other cases, user also uploads images that depict the event, for example, a big fire, a scene of crime, an accident spot. Such images will be used to extract location info. see #Location 3
3. The application platform will compare the two (or three) location information extracted in step 1, 2, and provide an evaluation score, as the referenced reliability of this message.
