A method and system is disclosed for providing a verbal photo album for total or near total or near total visually impaired person (VIP).

The verbal photo album includes a speech to text module that receives a request from a VIP in verbal manner. The request may include factors such events, people appearing, date, location. Based on the factors, a searching module find relevant albums or set of photos. The albums or the set of photos may be filtered based on preferences (learned over time) of the VIP. Additionally, a mood of the VIP could be used to retrieve relevant albums or set of photos. Furthermore, calendar details could be used to further refine the albums or the set of photos .

Once relevant albums or set of photos are retrieved , the verbal photo album narrates details of each photo the set of photos . For example, for each photo, a verbal explanation is provided that talks about the location, visible objects, people in the photo

with details, such as face expression (e.g. smiling, making funny face), posture (such as holding arms, standing, sitting, pointing), and details about clothing (such as red skirt, sunglasses, cowboy hat). Narration preferences of the VIP is learned over time and accordingly, only preferred details for each photo is narrated .
