Abstract

The proposal is the receiver of the incoming call is intimated that the Receiver is getting into a call that has more than 1 party, before the call is being picked up. This would be a simple addition to the Incoming call display where it would indicate that it is a call from multiple users meaning you would be entering into a conference call.

Method to Alert/indicate receiver that the incoming call is a Multi -party call
Currently when we get an incoming call on our handset, there is no way to identify if the call you are entering into is a "1 on 1" call or if there are additional people in the call and you are being coreferenced. The only way to find out is to get into the call and check if it is a conference.

We get into calls without knowing there are additional people on that call and we may not be in a state to get on a conference call at that specific time as well.

Proposal is prior to the call being picked up, the receiver of the call is intimated that the Receiver is getting into a call that has more than 1 party.

This would be a simple addition to the Incoming call display where it would indicate that it is a call from multiple users meaning you would be entering into a conference call.

Use Case:

- User A is in conversation with User B
- User A initiates another call to User C
- User C gets an incoming call with information that it is a multi party call

Using existing technology to display additional information with incoming call we can implement our idea.

- First, it is identified if the calling user has another call ongoing prior to initiating a new call.

- This additional data on ongoing call would be sent along with the new call and display to the receiver that the incoming call is a Multi party call
