Method and System for Suggesting Stores based on a Shopping List

Disclosed is a method and system for recommending one or more stores to a consumer/shopper based on a shopping list of the consumer. The system suggests one or more stores which have most items of the shopping list so as to avoid multiple visits to multiple stores.

The system parses a shopping list of a consumer to identify items that the consumer is looking for. The shopping list could be a text file, or an entry in a note application.

Moving on, based on the consumer's location preference, the system retrieves a list of stores within a preferred radius of the consumer. Thereafter, the system queries inventory of each store for the items in the shopping list. The system can also query the stores for best price/deals.

Once all the stores have been queried, the system ranks the stores in order of the ones that have the most items in inventory along with the best price/deal and the remaining stock. If one store does not have all the items, the system shows the consumer the stores that have the items.

The system can further refine the ranks by ranking stores based on the proximity of the stores with each other. This helps the consumer in selecting stores which are proximity to each and can fulfill the shopping list of the consumer.

Thus, the method and system assists a consumer to select one or more stores for buying all items from a shopping list so as to avoid too many visits to multiple stores.
