Software Signature creation automation based on monitoring of Software Installation Process and changes made on file system and registry

There is no complete software catalog nor solution to detect any current and future software installed on given machine. We propose a method to create a signature (build catalog) during deployment of new software to the environment . The main idea of the solution is to calculate a delta between subsequent system scans and correlate that data with provisioning system data. On larger sample it is possible to identify changed packages / files and create based on them signatures . Currently a Software Asset Management solution gathers information on the server side about installed software packages and selected by extension files . Having that inflow of information it is possible to calculate a delta of changes.

Nowadays, in large environments software is installed using provisioning tools , so there is possible to correlate information about software provisioning / installation with delta from given endpoint. Also as an alternative the end user (owner of the endpoint) when installing software directly might be asked what software has been installed (confirm validity of registry data or provide correction).

As roll out of the software is happening on multiple machines , it is possible to find a common subset of changes (current signature rules) which when matched will report software. As a validation point the end user is asked to...
