Logic to Assist in Communications

When talking on a pervasive device, a low or altering signal can impede audio clarity. Background noise can also interfere with the clarity of what a user can hear. These types of problems, on either side of the conversation, can affect the clarity of the conversation for either party.

The novel contribution is a system that automatically determines the need for textual assistance during a user's conversation in order to supplement the audio output. This includes configuration options for output rules. The model incorporates learning and sharing aspects that utilize the Internet of Things (IOT).

The system automatically determines an area of known poor signal or monitors the device for a low signal. The system monitors frequency and levels of background noise and makes some decisions based on a likely or predicted background noise. When the system detects interference, it automatically opens a textual view on the screen to assist the conversation.

The system is comprised of input, a decision-making layer, and output.

1. Monitoring the signal strength (SIGNAL_STRENGTH_SCORE)

A. The mobile device displays the signal strength

    B. System monitors the signal strength data within the device
2. Known areas of poor signals (KNOWN_SIGNAL_ISSUES_SCORE)
