Air-Oil-Separator with V-Groove assembly
This disclosure concerns improvements of a flange of a air-oil separator element, the flange being clamped between a vessel housing and a cover. Such separator element are known for example from US 6,485,535 B1.
State of technology
The distinguishing feature of the invention over the state of technology is assembling the element on the groove and improvement in the sealing as the groove increases sealing area.
The advantages of the invention is, it improves assembly of the element into system and improves sealing.
Description of the invention
This is done by providing a V shaped slot in lid, gasket, metal flange of element and receiver end flange for a better contact among the four.
Requires a specific way of assembling the element into the compressor and vacuum pump. Requires a sealing that performes better.
The design has a specific feature that ensures a particular way of assembly at the interface of the element and the housing/vessel part.
A flat, disk shaped sealing material like a rubber gasket can be used between the flange and the vessel and/or cover. The sealing material may be attached (i.e. glued) to the flange of the air-oil separator element.
