Abstract

In order to protect the trocar tip during handling and within the package during transit, a tip protector is often used. As trocars come in different diameters, there are different size tip protectors to accommodate them. Creating a one-sizefits- all tip protector would streamline the production process and eliminate the potential for component mix-up.

ONE SIZE FITS ALL TROCAR TIP PROTECTOR, MULTIPLE PROTRUSIONS

SUMMARY

In order to protect the trocar tip during handling and within the package during transit, a tip protector is often used. As trocars come in different diameters, there are different size tip protectors to accommodate them. Creating a one-size- fits-all tip protector would streamline the production process and eliminate the potential for component mix-up.

DESCRIPTION

The tip protector below describes a flexible material with finger-like protrusions in which the trocar sleeve and/or obturator would be placed. The trocar sleeve would be pressed between the finger-like protrusions depending on the size (diameter) of the sleeve. The obturator would be inserted into the center and the finger-like protrusions would flex to accommodate the appropriate size. A sectioned view is shown below. There are 2 sides, one for the sleeve and one for the obturator. The finger-like protrusions may be all the same length or varying lengths.

See attached illustration.
