Abstract

Method of web screen sharing privacy protection. The core idea is to blur the non-target area during the screen sharing presentation or online conferencing. During screen sharing presentation or online conferencing, the presenter only want to share some of the area on his/her screen or just share one of the application UI. By using this idea, presenter can increase the user experience by only sharing the target area to attendees. Benefit: 1. Reduce bandwidth wasting 2. Protect User's privacy 3. Vision focus - attendees can easily know which part of the screen is the one they need to pay attention 4. Under the blurring mode, user can still see the screen sharing and know the internet transferring works fine.

As people doing screen sharing presentation or online conferencing, one thing that bother people most is that user will accidentally leak privacy when the sharing users try to open another file or finding some files in the computer. It's an very embarrassing moment while the private things being seen in public. So, It must be very helpful if the screen sharing, broadcasting service can determine if it needs broadcasting or not by monitoring target application's status.

The core idea is to blur the non-target area during the screen sharing presentation or online conferencing. During screen sharing presentation or online conferencing, the presenter only want to share some of the area on his/her screen or just share one of the application UI. By using this idea, presenter can increase the user experience by only sharing the target area to attendees.

In the beginning of the meeting, when the presenter is not ready to share the screen, the screen will display in blurred, low quality screen, so attendees won't see the detail in presenter's screen, so the presenter's privacy will be protected and the bandwidth can also be saved. During the meeting, when the presenter's screen has been shared, the presenter can decide which area or application can be shared during the meeting, the other part of the area will display in blurred, low quality screen.

Presenters can decide when to blur the screen and which part of the screen can be blurred during sharing the screen by identify the status of the application. For example, when presenter is sharing the video player, once you play the video, the screen will be clear, once you stop the video the screen will be blurred because it is not in full screen or has been stopped.
