Person Position Monitoring System for Person-Support Apparatus

This disclosure generally relates to a person-support apparatus. More specifically, but not exclusively, the disclosure relates to a person position monitoring system for a person-support apparatus.

A healthcare facility is equipped with a number of person-support apparatuses. A typical person-support apparatus includes a person-support surface and a deck. The person-support surface, such as the mattress, may be configured to support a load exerted by a person and provide comfort to the person. The person-support surface may be supported on the deck. Further, the person-support surface may support the load exerted by the person in a multitude of positions of the person such as a sitting position, apre-exit position, a tilt position, and other positions. The person under medical treatment may require help in certain positions and situations.

In certain situations, such as during an episode of low breathability of the person, accidental falling of the person from the person-support apparatus, and other emergency situations, emergency services must be provided to the person promptly. Unawareness of the situation may cause severe damage to the person.

This disclosure relates in general to a person-support apparatus and, more particularly, to a person position monitoring system for the person-support apparatus in the healthcare industry. The person-support apparatus generally includes at least one person support surface, at least one deck, and the person position monitoring system. At least one person-support surface may be configured to support a load exerted by a person. The person-support surface may be supported by at least one deck. The person position monitoring system may be configured to detect and sense the load exerted by the person on the person-support surface. If triggered, the person position monitoring system may raise an alarmsignal. The person position monitoring system further includes at least one detection plate and multiple load cells. The detection plates may be configured to detect the load exerted by the person and distribute the load on the load cells. The detection plates may be made of a multitude of materials or a combination of such materials. The load cells are configured to sense the load detected by the detection plates and may raise an alarmsignal.

A side view of a deck assembly 100 of a person-support apparatus is shown in Fig.1. The deck assembly 100 of the person-support apparatus includes at least one person-support surface 105, at least one deck 110, and a person position monitoring system 115 for monitoring the condition of a person such as a position of the person, weight of the person, person mobility sensing, and other related measurements. The person position monitoring system 115 includes at least one detection plate 120 and multiple load cells 125.
