Abstract

Currently there is no mechanism in any review tool for intelligently identifying and pointing whether the review comments have been incorporated in the artifact under review. The types of reviewable artifacts could be html, image, documents, xml, code files, etc. Today reviewer has to manually judge seeing the last reviewer comment in conjugation with the location of insertion of the comment to identify the change made. This white paper suggests a system which will intelligently compare the structure of the latest modified document with the old document structure stored in the database to showcase the actionable items for reviewer.

Currently there is no mechanism in any review tool for intelligently identifying and pointing whether the review comments have been incorporated in the artifact under review. The types of reviewable artifacts could be html, image, documents, xml, code files, etc. Today reviewer has to manually judge seeing the last reviewer comment in conjugation with the location of insertion of the comment to identify the change made.

The proposed solution would help bridge this gap by analyzing the review comment and change made in the artifact. Based on the analysis it would add a system comment saying that the changes made are in sync with the reviewer comment. This would help reviewer analyze more easily of the changes suggested are in sync with the comment.

Here we are proposing to build an Intelligent Review system which will handle dynamic changes in review artifact without the need of a source code repository. The author will create a review artifact which will go to the reviewer for review process. Reviewer will add comments on artifact. The proposed system will only save the metadata of the user selection being selected to add review comments on the artifact along with selected content, artifact structure and artifact details. System will highlight the relevant content of the artifact where reviewer has given comment. It will also add the comment text as popup action. Depending on reviewer's comments author would modify the reviewable artifact, delete some content or insert new content. The system will compare the structure of the latest modified document with the old document structure stored in the database to showcase the actionable items for reviewer.

With this the review comment, the change made would be analyzed. Both would be compared in a manner to understand if the change made is in conjugation with the review comment. If the system judges that the mentioned change has been made as proposed in the review comment, then the proposed system adds a comment saying that the change made is in conjugation with the review comment. If the change is not as proposed in the review comment, system would add a comment alternatively.

Advantages of the proposed solution -

a. Review comment is analyzed.

b. The change is analyzed to understand if the change is in conjugation with the review

comment.

c. If the change is in conjugation with the review comment, system analyzes it and adds a comment saying that the change is as per the proposed comment.

The proposed system will handle dynamic changes in review file without need of a source code repository.
