Abstract

The invention relates to integrated devices and systems in equipment to enable handling, and in particular, providing integrated pallet features in power converter equipment. The invention proposes modifications to the power converter base by integrating slots with both lateral and vertical bearing surfaces for aiding handling by a fork lift truck. The slots may be provided additional features such as a ramp or a roller. In an alternative, temporary supports forming slots for a fork lift could be affixed by affixing bolts into threaded holes at the bottom of the base. The slot, the ramp or the roller could be integrated with the temporary supports feature, which will reduce the depth of slot required, thus reducing costs. The advantages of the invention include dispensing with a pallet for handling a power converter.

BACKGROUND

The invention relates to integrated devices and systems in equipment to enable handling, and in particular, providing integrated pallet features in a power converter equipment base. Generally, goods are placed on pallets for stable support while being lifted or transported using fork lift trucks. However, pallets used for shipping are expensive. Moreover, the pallet is thrown away upon delivery of the goods. So, there is a need to find a better way to make equipment capable of being handled while using fork lift trucks.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

The invention proposes modifications to the power converter base by integrating slots with both lateral and vertical bearing surfaces for aiding handling by a fork lift truck, so that a pallet is not required for material handling. Features proposed in the invention are illustrated in FIG. 1 and FIG. 2. As shown in FIG. 1A, slots for a fork lift are integrated into the base. The slots may be provided additional features such as a ramp or a roller, as shown in FIG. 1B and Section C-C'. The ramp allows for a reduced slot depth as a wider slot at the mouth would facilitate entry of the fork, after which it would slide under the base. In a second feature, one or more rollers could be incorporated to ease the fork into the slot, with similar benefit in terms of reduced slot depth.
