Abstract:

This technical disclosure relates to asymmetric positioning for a tilt assembly for a harvester head, particularly in two wheels driven Harvester Head.

Background:

Harvester heads have a certain tilt function to fell the trees. This is done by having a joint between the main frame and the tilt frame of the harvester head. There are two alternative basic structures for this 1) Tilt frame with two legs and 2) One leg tilt frame (typically one leg tilt frame is some kind of tube-type frame.)

Alternative (1) have certain disadvantages: maintenance work for head is difficult because two leg frame is in front of maintenance parts, typically main hydraulic valve, hosing etc. Alternative (2) is better for maintenance, but if it is position is symmetric, then main hydraulic valve should be divided in two parts and this will cause extra hosing to head.

Description:

In a harvester head structure, there is a saw box for cutting stems. Normally, head layout is symmetric about center line and will tilt about the center line. This invention discloses a tilt frame joint, which is asymmetric compared to head's center line and located towards the saw box side.

The figures 1 to 3 show tilt bracket according to the invention. What is essential is that the arm pivot point of the grapple is disposed asymmetrically in relation to the center line of the head.

It is essential that the grapple in the width direction of the tilt cylinder is on the side of the frame tube.

This achieves a large steering angle (the body is able to turn the cylinder over). The tilt axle, bearing size, bearing span tube, the actuating cylinder and the length of tilt actuator are the same as H270 II, where parts of the machine shown in figures are realistic size.

The tilt cylinder use the image allocating credits of the sizing to achieve a very good rear tilt angle which is the grapple tree input event healing change.

The tilt axle tube is closer to the saw box than normally, this provides more space for the actuating use. Axle point may of-course be more to the left of the figure, wherein the tilt frame is shorter.

Inventive layout:


1) Tilt axle point (tube) is on the side of the center line of the grapple, on the side of saw box.

2) The grapple valve is on the side of the center line of the grapple, not on the side of the saw box. Saw box is on the right side of the head tilt valves.

3) and it is bended tilt arm in certain way.

The valve protection is widened ~ 70 mm ~ 330 mm ~ 400 mm, because the problem has been the lack of space because of head hoses and valves. Grapple handling, mainly in the export of wood, grab the asymmetrical position of the valve does not matter, because it is not the outermost part of the grapple.
