Every year, drivers accidentally leave children in in the rear seats of hot cars for unsafe periods. The interior temperature of a car rapidly rises in the hot sun , up to over 120 degrees on an 80-degree day. Tragedy can come quickly, sometimes causing a child to die from heat stroke*.

A root cause of the problem is a combination of factors :

• The child is not in sight of the driver • The child is not the subject of constant attention by the driver
• Often the driver is not following a normal routine (e.g., not the primary caregiver)

The current existing products and solutions do not address the root cause .

The novel solution is a mobile device and/or a smart watch application (app) that prevents the situation in which a driver inadvertently leaves a child in the back seat of a vehicle when leaving the vehicle. The application provides preventative measures, but also has back-up measures in case the first step is ignored.

The main components of the solution are a mobile device /smart watch application and an intelligent child car seat that communicates with the mobile device /smart watch app and car computer/monitor.

The novel solutions addresses root causes of the problem . The app notifies the driver/vehicle owner before the internal temperature rises in an occupied vehicle , which can prevent the dangerous situation of leaving a child in a hot vehicle .

The car seat has an embedded mechanism that disallows the buckling of the seat belt/harness in the back seat/child seat without connecting a device such as a smart
