Title: Remotely Controlling Machine Through Embedded Control Parameters in GPS Correction Signals
This document describes the concept of remotely controlling machines (mainly vehicles used in off‐ highway industry like tractor, combines, loaders, excavators, etc., though the concept can be applied to any moving machine or vehicle) by embedding machine control parameters in GPS correction signals which are transmitted by Geo‐Stationary Satellite Network Systems.
1. Misuse of machines by dealers by renting them out before Actual Sales to Farmer/Contractors
Once machines are manufactured in factory, they are moved to dealers place and they remained park in dealer premises. Generally OEM gives machines to dealers on credit basis or even sells the machine to end users through credit. OEM doesn't receive any money until the machine is sold. Without OEM's knowledge, there is chance that dealer may rent out these machines and earn money, before the machine is sold to customer.
The concept presented will avoid such misuse of machine by locking /unlocking the machine or disabling the various functionalities of machine like start/stop operation of machine, thereby ensuring that Brand New Product (Machine) is given to the customer.
Note: We generally have test/demo machine at dealers place to give demonstration to customers, so others machine should be locked until the payment is made.
2. Assets needs to be recovered in case of Defaults on payments by customer.
Once the machine is sold to end user like farmer/contractor on credit for few years, there is good chances that end customer/contractor may default of payment. There could be willful defaulters or even un‐willful defaulters. In case of willful defaulters, OEM needs to take custody of machine. Presently, in some countries, OEM authorized person needs to visit customer in remote villages or places in person to take custody of vehicle. Such visit involves investment of cost and time. Despite of visit, there is no guarantee to get the custody of machine.
The concept presented will enable OEM to recover the asset by making it completely un‐useful for customers defaulting on payments.
3. Preventing the machine from Theft or Tracking the Machine in Case of Theft If the machine is stolen by some means, the end customer can either make a request to OEM over a phone or web‐based application or smart phone application to disable the machine or can directly disable the machine through application after validating customer authentication.
