Mobile communication technologies

4G standards specifies a set of requirements that for high mobility communication like from a train or car, the peak speed requirement for 4G services is 100 megabits per second and for low mobility communication it is 1 Gigabit per second. To achieve this, 4G uses all-Internet Protocol (IP) based communication. It uses multi-carrier transmission and other frequency domain equalization schemes, making it possible to transfer data at very high speed.

Going forward, with the newer technological evolutions, the data transfer speed will grow with the newer data transfer and mobile communication technologies like 5G, 6G and more.

4G Requirements

For the next generation communication technologies such as 4G, the current mobile storage is not sufficient enough to handle the large amount of incoming and outgoing data. Below are the major areas where it needs to be improved,


· Data handling speed
4G communication standard enables data communication with as large as 1 Gigabits per second data rate. To handle this data, the mobile storage should be as equipped as the same i.e. It should be able to handle 1 gigabit per second so that it should not become the bottleneck in performance.


· Compression and Encryption data handling

Most of the mobile operating systems recommend to put important data on the cloud storage. This data is encrypted and compressed. To handle these operations and to push data with this higher speed as 1 Gigabit per second, the mobile storage should work with the same speed along with the compression and encryption algorithms.


· Absence of RAM tiering model

As explained above, higher the data rate, higher are the expectations from the mobile storage. This should be as good as RAM. But replacing all storage by RAM is practically not good.

Interactive Gaming for mobile devices

Interactive gaming requires very high rate of data transfer where it sends the player inputs to the gaming server and exchanges large amount of feedback data from the server to the client at the player's site. These gaming technologies enables many player to play the same game interactively. This needs the data transfer rate which can handle all the players' information and communicate with the gaming server.

Most of the gaming implementations use the client devices' RAM for the data operation.

Going forward using only RAM for storing gaming data will be inefficient as the gaming data will be larger and larger in the future as the displaying technology requirements will rise with HD, Ultra HD and etc.
