Abstract

The invention solves the problem that user has to tap each object individually one by one to select multiple objects on the multi- touch screen device. Especially when the objects are in consecutive order. The invention help user places two fingers on two consecutive objects and pinch apart to two new groups, the objects are divided into three segments to select. If user pinches vertically, the arrays would divided row by row and form upper and lower parts. It can be used in many scenarios as photo album, playlist and document. It is high efficiency, High extensibility and Low learning effort.

An Interactive Method for Selecting Multiple Objects Efficiently on Multi-

The invention solves the problem that user has to tap each object individually one by one to select multiple the objects on the multi- touch screen device. Especially when the objects are in consecutive order, the selection process is much inefficient than continuous selection in desktop.

The problem happens widely in a lot of scenarios, e.g. selecting a set of consecutive documents to print, selecting a set of consecutive photos to share, selecting a set of consecutive emails to archive, selecting a set of consecutive goods in shopping cart to checkout, selecting a set of consecutive media in library to add to playlist, etc.

The user can select a group of objects by two pinches. The user uses two fingers to make segmentations by pinching that widen the gap between the two objects and make them form a new group. The two pinches, one pinch at the beginning and one at the end, would make the three new segments. Then the objects the been pushed together will form the new groups. After the manipulation the whole array of objects will be segmented into three parts, and the middle one is the target user want to select. It saves the required action for user to select multiple objects, user could use two pinches to group the ten photos instead of tapping ten times on the wanted photos.
