Abstract

This method uses gravity sensor to detect the rotating angle of steering wheels, thus calculate the front wheel direction of automobile vehicles. The installation and collaboration could be so simple, that every driver can utilize this method with little cost and time. To realize this method, a sensor unit, a communication unit, a calculation unit, a interactive unit and a display unit are going to be needed.

Currently, most automobile vehicles don't have a device to indicate the direction of front wheels. On reason is that most skills drivers could judge the front wheel direction according to their experience. Another and more important reason is that it costs quite a money to equip the vehicles with such a device.

However, there are plenty of people who need the device to indicate the front wheel direction. For example:

-- new drivers have no concept about how to relate the vehicles direction with the steering wheel;

-- drivers who get into an unfamiliar vehicle have the same confusion with the new drivers;

-- when the vehicle has stopped for a while, like waiting for left turning lights on road, or trying to park in a serial of complex moves, the driver may forget the front wheel direction.

In the cases mentioned above, the driver has to move the vehicle a bit, to judge the direction it goes. If there were other vehicles close to this vehicle, even moving a bit is risky of crushing or scratching. Therefore, the device indicating the front wheel direction is very useful for many people.

People have thought about how to make it easier and cheaper to equip the vehicles with such a device. So far, there are several different ways to direct the front wheel directions. Examples are as follows:

-- 1) use mechanical transmission equipment, like gear and shaft, to reflect the twisting angle of steering wheels or front wheels on dashboard;

-- 2) use sensors on/beside the front wheels, to detect the twisting angle;

-- 3) use sensors on the steering wheel, to detect its rotating angle.

This disclosure is classified into 3). With utilizing a kind of cheap and widely used sensor - gravity sensor, this new method will make it convenient to see the front wheel direction, and lower the cost of vehicle manufactures and drivers.

Meanwhile, the data of front wheel direction is easy to be recorded and uploaded to the internet. This is also meaningful for analyzing the drivers' habit and judging the responsibility of traffic accidents, etc.
