Abstract

Nowadays, instant messaging (IM) tools become more and more indispensable in our daily work and life, since they are real time and efficient. Two problems often happen during discussing topics on IM tools: completeness problem and interactive problem. This article proposes the functions such as hold-on, adding comments/like/notes in the IM chat tool, to make the chat converstation more completed and interactive. The claim points here are: 1) a hold-on function in IM chat tool that allows users to create and edit a bunch of individual messages before sending them to the others; 2. provide functions such as adding comments/like/adding notes to the users to be able to interact with chat history.

A way to improve the completeness and interaction in IM tool

Nowadays, instant messaging (IM) tools become more and more indispensable in our daily work and life, since they are real time and efficient.

It is easily to meet the following two problems during discussing topics on IM tools:

1) Completeness problem: While presenting some opinions on IM tools, one wants to send out several long messages in batch without any interruption. Yet usually after the person sends out one message and still editing the next one (e.g, creating new message or trying to find a picture to paste and etc.), others might reply/interrupt the messages, since they do not know what the person wants to continue to explain and usually do not wait;

2) Interactive problem: during group chatting, it happens that some one will join later. Now he/she can ONLY view previous chat history, but can NOT have any interactive operations on it. It will be very helpful and efficient if he/she can interact with previous chat messages.

Our disclosure discloses the functions such as hold-on, adding comments/notes and like in the IM chat tool to make chat conversation more completed and interactive.

The claim pointsof our disclosures are:

1. a hold-on function in IM chat tool that allows users to create and edit a bunch of individual messages before sending them to the others;

2. provide functions such as adding comments/like/adding notes to the users to be able to interact with chat history;

The advantagesof our disclosure are:

1. more efficient and user friendly (no need for a lot of copy and paste operations);

2. keep the discussion much more fluent and completed;

3. provide the possibility to directly interactive with previous chat, just like the person who joins the group chat later was present for previous discussion.

4. can have some advanced sorting, ranking and analysis of the previous messages, according to the user activities on it, especially in those big chat group.
