Method and System for Automatically Suggesting Routes to Users based on Vehicle Driving Patterns

Disclosed is a method and system for automatically suggesting routes to users based on vehicle driving patterns. The method and system provides suggestions about routes and other road related events to the users by monitoring historical driving patterns of the users and friends of the users that have a similar correlation. The suggestions provided to the users can be such as, but not limited to, alternative routes, hints/tips, roads having construction, heads-up, old route, new route, social routes and roads that are avoided and are currently drivable.

In accordance with the method and system, data from a global positioning system (GPS) attached to a vehicle or a user mobile device is collected for determining driving patterns of the user. The collected GPS data includes information such as, for example, user locations, user past driving routes, source-destination information, common places of visit, unknown locations often observed, etc. Subsequently, the method and system obtains the data from the GPS along with data from other applications on the user's mobile device. The obtained information is then analyzed to establish details such as time/date, user's common places of visit, and user's calendar/events.
