Abstract

Crosslinked articles comprising propylene-ethylene-diene copolymers are described herein. Nylon can be added to the article as the dispersed phase, and the copolymer-nylon matrix may be cross-linked, thereby improving the heat resistance of the articles.

Crosslinked articles comprising propylene-ethylene-diene copolymers are described herein. Nylon can be added to the article as the dispersed phase, and the copolymer-nylon matrix may be cross-linked, thereby improving the heat resistance of the articles.

Background:

PCT Publication No. WO 2011/041230 describes the use of polypropylene and high density polyethylene in formulations for crosslinked propylene-ethylene diene copolymer articles.

Polyolefin polymers and polymer blends are known for their versatility and applicability in a variety of uses. In particular, many polyolefin polymers including copolymers of propylene with other -olefins such as ethylene, are well suited for use in applications requiring heat resistance. Materials with heat resistance are used to manufacture a disposable articles in addition to durable articles including but not limited to incontinence pads, disposable diapers, training pants, clothing, undergarments, sports apparel, automotive trim, weather-stripping, gaskets, and furniture upholstery.

It has been discovered that incorporating nylon into the cross-linked article can improve the heat resistance of the article.
