With the growing usage of messaging applications like Whatsapp, Kik, Viber, BBM etc for instant messaging a lot of content is shared and forwarded for various purposes. The intent of the content could be harmless or malicious. Someone might be interested in sharing health related warnings, social events, news events along with their opinion. But the downside of this is people might be unintentionally sharing content which might be socially harmful and cause eg communal tensions, unnecessary commotion or outright incorrect information. A method is needed so that users who are sharing this information are given recommendations so that they can take decide if they really want to share the content. The dangerous content could include text, images, videos etc.

Step involved in the implementation:


Step 1: User decides to forward a message through say whatsapp, but want to verify the "danger" of this message.

Step 2: Through a gesture or a menu item he clicks "evaluate danger" thereby invoking call to through the cloud to a hosted service called "Harmful message verification".

Step 3: This service takes input from 3 other services internally a) Newsfeed service: If the message to be evaluated is related to a new event, specific calls are made to various news providers after which authenticity of the event is verfied. eg:
