Abstract

The invention provides a height adjustable infant incubator with hydraulic lift mechanism. The hydraulic lift mechanism is similar to the mechanism used in hydraulic automobile jacks, and is incorporated between a base and a patient platform of the infant incubator, to provide adjustable height positioning of the patient platform.

HYDRAULICALLY OPERATED INFANT INCUBATOR

FIELD OF INVENTION

The invention generally relates to infant incubators, and more particularly to infant incubators having a hydraulically actuated height adjustment mechanism.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Current infant incubators either have a patient compartment at a fixed height, or the patient compartment is height adjustable using an electrically operated, for example, using a motor. The currently available height adjustment mechanisms in infant incubators are costly, both in terms of acquisition and maintenance costs. Furthermore, the conventional electrical height adjustment mechanisms are noisy while being operated to adjust the height.

Hence there exists a need for an improvement in the height adjustment mechanisms for infant actuators.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The invention provides an infant incubator having a hydraulically operated height adjustment mechanism.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The infant incubators are designed to be mobile, and further an infant patient may be tended to by persons of differing height, who may find it convenient to vary the height of the patient compartment. The infant incubator include a base, which may include wheels for mobility, and a patient compartment for an infant to be positioned therein, and an intervening connecting support structure, such as beam. The techniques disclosed herein provide a hydraulic actuator, similar to the well-known hydraulic actuator mechanism used in automobile jacks that are used to lift an automobile, fitted to the infant in...
