System and Method for Determining Social Digital Exposure

The novel contribution is a method and system for determining a snapshot of a user 's social digital exposure for security purposes. The evaluation is based on social media entries, such as mentions, blog posts, updates, photos, content sharing, geo-tagging, face tagging, etc. The method uses all data collected from these sources as input . The method classifies and filters what is fundamental to determine the risk exposure and the level of information that is not managed by the user . The output is a snapshot report of the user's calculated social digital exposure, which correlates to a level of security risk. The snapshot is a chart divided into high, medium, and low sections.

The method is implemented when a user installs an associated application on any device for which a digital exposure report is desired. The user then:

1. Opens the application on the associated device 2. Selects the relevant categories (i.e., categories that the user uses)

3. For each category, selects the associated tool or application

4. Allows the application to access different social media Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) and Internet blogs according to the submitted categories. Each category corresponds to a different type of authentication.

5. Selects a date range for analysis 6. Starts the scan process 7. Receives the snapshot report in the form of a line chart with all entries in that specific range , considering the exposure calculation

During the scan process, the system:

1. Uses the social media APIs to get information about the events, the event details, and the number of views 2. Uses Internet blog access to get information about blogging events, event details...
