Abstract

Described is a method where deployment accelerators for each product / configuration part are made available and can be pulled together at any stage to derive the solution specific Installer. The time take to generate solution specific installer is reduced to 1 day’s work. In this method the Installer will have a capability to perform a Multi-node / single node deployment with its own UI suppressing the product. It thereby gives user a single UI flow interface wherein the user can provide the basic inputs. This whole flow will have a central Logging and progress system visible to the end user. This method drastically reduces the manual intervention by the user and hence increases the deployment success rate, along with the decreases in deployment time. This method gives a feel to customer that only one single solution product is being deployed.

Typical Industry solutions comprise of multiple IBM other products. Each product needs to be deployed and configured on the end-users machine individually (Multi-node deployment Architecture) which is a time consuming and manual effort. For each solution, the solution stack varies and the development team has to build a wrapper installer from scratch, to support the deployment model.

In this solution space IBM / companies have acquired many products over past few years. The biggest challenge is to install and integrate them into one single solution. This consume more time for development and deployment at the end-users location (i.e. deployment time is around 3 - 4 weeks; development time is around 4 - 6 weeks).

User need to look for individual Log files on each machine to find out the error / success information. Along with this the User needs to understand the complete requirement for the solution he intends to deploy.
