Disclosed is a method and system that augments certain characteristics (such as screen brightness, CPU speed, system access) of a user's workstation or work environment to elevate focus and productivity based on an incoming piece of correspondence that is deemed to require immediate action and full attention of the user.

The figure illustrates a flow chart for augmenting certain characteristics of a user's

workstation based on importance/criticality of an incoming correspondence.

As shown in the figure, correspondences/communications are received at the user's

workstation. The communication may include instant messages, emails, calls, VOIP, skype or any other form of incoming communication. In an embodiment, user-defined alerts and severity tags can also be taken into consideration.

Once a correspondence is received, the system performs a natural language processing to analyze the content and determine importance/severity of the correspondence. At this stage, the severity/importance thus determined is compared

with an importance threshold. If the correspondence is determined to be important enough, the user's workstation is augmented. The workstation can be augmented in accordance with a generic set up, which may be further customized by the user. It may include things such as lighting, CPU response timing, memory usage, and I/O rate.
