Disclosed is a method and system for automatically suggesting alternate safer routes. The method and system provides suggestions about routes by alerting a user about existing and statistically likely dangers on the road.

The system includes three types of devices: a road device, a vehicle device and a central hub device to alert a user about danger present on a road.

FIG. 1 illustrates a scenario depicting relationship among the three devices.

As illustrated in FIG. 1, a vehicle device may be embedded into every vehicle for example cars or self-driving or autonomous cars. The vehicle device includes a router to communicate with a road device, a light weight computing device and a power source.

The road device may be embedded at certain interval distances in existing roadways. The road device includes router to communicate with the vehicle device, a central hub and the other road devices, a sensor to sense a temperature of the surrounding road, a light weight computing element, a storage to store the information obtained from the sensors, central hub or the vehicle device and a power storage.

Further, the road device may include internal up-to-date mapping of the locations of all other road devices and the central hub. The road device opens a secure socket between each of the direct neighbors. Additionally, the road device determines a neighbor road device to relay the data obtained from the vehicle data and proceeds to send the data to next neighbor through the appropriate socket.

The central hub gathers the data from the road devices, executes various algorithms to generate likelihood of a crash for any particular vehicle and sends a set of results to the road device. The data collected in the central hub leads to a prediction that a certain route is safer than an original route.
