A Method and System for Authenticating User Identity using Elliptic Curve Digital Signature

Existing numerical based identification systems use a single ID number for both identification and authentication of a user. The user utilizes the social security number (SSN) or employee number to authenticate themselves. The idea of utilizing singular keys as authentication and identification purpose and to prove who you are, a copy of the "key" must remain in a database for verification. In case, the database is hacked, through technical or social engineering techniques, the ID numbers might get released, allowing anyone with the numbers can falsify the identity of original user. Therefore, the method and system is necessitated to authenticate user identity more securely using elliptic curve digital signature.

Disclosed is a method and system for authenticating user identity using Elliptic Curve Digital Signature (ECDS). The method and system improves the ability of users to authenticate themselves securely without excessive oversight and technical knowledge.

Following figure illustrates a design flow for authenticating user identity securely using ECDS signature, in accordance with the method and system.
