In multi-select list boxes of the prior art, a user scrolls up/down, presses a Control (CTRL) button and clicks on each item to be selected. If by chance, the user just uses a click without CTRL button then all items that were previously selected

would be deselected. Secondly, if there are too many selections to be made, the user can lose track and has to scroll up and down in order to verify the selections.

Disclosed is a method and system for implementing a multi-select list box that displays one or more items selected from the list at the top of the multi-select list box while allowing a user to scroll further down in the multi-select list box to make further selections.

FIG. 1 illustrates a flowchart of a method for implementing the multi-select list box in accordance with an embodiment of the method and system.

As illustrated in FIG. 1, when the user selects items in the multi-select list box, the method and system causes the selected items to boil up to the top of the list and is displayed as highlighted at the top followed by the remaining items in the list. The user continues to scroll down using a scroll bar and continues to select new items in the list that are subsequently added to the top of the selected list of items.

Also, the list of items is selected in a scroll bar and is seen in a tooltip like graphical user interface (GUI) object attached to the multi-select list box.

When the user wishes to perform a deselection of an item in the list that was already selected, the user utilizes the tooltip like GUI object and the deselection is reflected in the multi-select list box without the user having to scroll down the entire list of items for performing the deselection.
