BACKGROUND

 

The present disclosure relates generally to magnetic resonance (MR) imaging and more particularly to a high capacity two dimensional code for MR scanning protocol data.

Generally, magnetic resonance (MR) scan protocol handling is limited to a local MR console. Operators and other users are required to physically travel to a medical care giving centre, find an available MR system and work on the MR system console. Other than physical limitations of proximity to the console of the system, sharing scan protocol data is also difficult.

Conventionally, for sharing scan protocol data, the scan protocol data is required to be saved into a storage medium such as a compact disc (CD), Digital Versatile Disc (DVD), and a universal serial bus (USB) among others. These storage media add to the cost and the speed of transfer using these media is also low.

Further, sharing scan protocol data between different manufactories is not possible due to different data format used by different manufactories.

It would be desirable to have an improved technique for magnetic resonance (MR) scan protocol data handling and sharing.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS

Figure 1 depicts a technique for magnetic resonance (MR) scan protocol data handling and sharing which involves a uniform encoding convention for scan protocols, a high capacity code image and a graphical user interface App which is supported on diverse platforms.

Figure 2 is a flow chart depicting use of an App for sharing the scan protocol data.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

A technique for magnetic resonance (MR) scan protocol data handling and sharing is proposed. As depicted in Figure 1, the technique involves a uniform encoding convention for scan protocols, a high capacity code image and a graphical user interface App which is supported on diverse platforms and operating systems.

A uniform encoding convention based on high capacity two dimensional (2D) code for the scan protocol data is used throughout the MR industry. An encoder for protocol data following the uniform encoding convention is used. As a result, each scan protocol is converted into a 2D code image. The encoder supports multiple operating systems (OS), such as HELiOS for MR console, Windows/Windows Mobile, iOS and Android among others.
