A Navigating System with Dynamic Scrolling Speed for Spreadsheet

Today's spreadsheet usually has large volume of rows and columns, and hard to be displayed. And it is also difficult to navigate to the target position since the traditional scroll bar will be too sensitive to respond to user's operation to control the scrolling speed. It's even worse on mobile device, which has smaller screen. A solution is to define several scroll mode with predefined scroll speed and switch between the mode according to user's operation. How ever, with the growing of the data volume, the predefined speed may also be not helpful. This invention provide a new method to dynamically change the scrolling speed according to user's dragging operation on scroll bar to navigate to the target position more quickly and more easily. The speed is not in several predefined mode, but can be changed dynamically and continuously according to the user data volume, screen size and user operation.

Therefore we need a model or a method to do the following:

1. An algorithm is used to define the maximum speed, minimum speed, and unit speed of scroll bar dynamically when drag horizontally for a vertical scroll bar or drag vertically for a horizontal scroll bar.

2. An method is used navigate in the spreadsheet when dragging up/down for the vertical scroll bar or drag left/right for the horizontal scroll bar, with the speed defined using the algorithm in #1.
