Method and System for Improving Display Advertisement Latency

Abstract

Disclosed is a method and system for improving display advertisement (ad) latency as it impacts viewability, user experience and revenue.  Thereafter, display ad latency feedback is utilized as a solution to allow ads within a latency threshold and thereby improves ad latency programmatically.

Description

There is a need to improve and solve the existing problem of display advertisement (ad) latency as it has a huge impact on viewability, user experience and revenue.  The existing solution to solve the latency involves identifying ad latency vendors and following up with the vendors.  More often than not, there is no vendor feedback in terms of mitigating measures employed by the vendors and no assurance whatsoever that ad latency issues are getting resolved at the vendor’s end, making this solution a manual, laborious, and non-scalable option.  Other traditional solutions options like Backup Ads wherein ads get timed-out after certain time are not efficient in improving either ad latency or the ad experience.

Disclosed is a method and system for improving display ad latency as it impacts viewability, user experience and revenue.  Thereafter, display ad latency feedback is utilized as a solution to allow ads only within a latency threshold and thereby improve ad latency programmatically.

In accordance with the method disclosed herein, the system registers each bid request with a unique creative id.  The system incorporates ad latency beacons in a client (user) browser thereby instrumental in measuring ad latency directly from the user’s browser.  The measured latency is aggregated by the unique creative...
