Method and System for Disabling Unapproved Locations on a Global Positioning System (GPS) Device

Disclosed is a method and system for disabling unapproved locations on a Global Positioning System (GPS) device. The method and system enables a user to enter a predefined list of unapproved locations that restrict another set of users from entering or accessing the unapproved locations by disabling the GPS directions on the device of the set of users.

In accordance with an embodiment, the method and system is used as a parental-control device, where a parent is enabled to enter unapproved locations and stop a child from entering or accessing the restricted/ unapproved locations by disabling the unapproved location directions on the child's GPS device. Here, the unapproved locations can be, but need not be limited to, pubs, deep forest areas, city outskirts, dangerous zones and the like.

The Figure below illustrates disabling unapproved locations on the child's GPS device and suggesting an alternate route for travelling through a safe zone in accordance with an exemplary embodiment of the method and system.

Figure

As illustrated in the Figure, the method and system enables parents to identify unapproved locations and enter a predefined list of unapproved locations in the child's GPS with a secure code while setting up the GPS in the child's device. Subsequently, the method and system monitors the routes preferred by the child for travelling and disables the unapproved locations directions based on the predefined list of the unapproved...
