The composition of a professional Curriculum Vitae (CV) is a common task, as is publishing CVs on dedicated-to-CV-publication portals. Several Natural Language Processing (NLP) and pattern matching techniques exist to find common textual patterns, common subsequences, and template structures in text. In addition, file-system storage maps are well known.

Composing a CVs is a routine task; however, the writer has neither prior knowledge of how other CVs are written to leverage (in spite of the availability of a great number of CVs for review and comparison), nor any real-time assistance. Further, text within a CV is often redundant. These redundancies represent common text snippets in CVs that can be stored as templates and used as references to reduce storage space.

The novel contribution is a system and associated methods to reduce disk storage space for storing CVs and leverage the storage architecture to help in providing a rich and fast CV composition experience to users. Users can auto-complete snippets of CVs using system-provided suggestions. The suggestions are formed from meta-data built over time over other CVs.

The system is comprised of several novel methods/subsystems. A compression/storage method compresses the storage (disk) space in a storage file system dedicated for storing CVs and generating meta-data about CVs for further consumption. A CV composition assistance method leverages meta-data from this file system to assist quick and rich composition of CVs (for those writing their CVs) with accurate text snippets. The snippets contain many different ways seen in history to represent similar information on CVs.
