Method and System for Proving a Distribution Channel for Music Delivery Through the Use of Hold Time Music

Disclosed is a method and system for enabling a user to purchase a song being played during hold time on call.

Today, companies who provide hold music services must purchase or pay royalties for the music for use. This model is cost prohibitive and adds to the time to introduce popular music listeners want to enjoy while on hold.

The method and system disclosed herein proposes using hold music as a marketing opportunity for music download services offering a new distribution channel.

In accordance with the method and system, when a user is put on hold during a call, the system request user's permission for accessing user's music library on user's mobile device. Upon analyzing the content of the music library, the system identifies a song from similar artists and/or genres. A sample of the identified song is then played

as the hold music for the user. At the end of the sample, the user is provided with an opportunity to purchase the song to continue listing to the song while on hold along with downloading the song on user's device. In case the user doesn't purchase the song, another song is played as hold music based on the user's preferences.

The system presents a business model to take advantage of a captive audience listening to hold music by providing music a user want to listen and incenting users to make a purchase during the hold session.
