Abstract

This remote control high voltage test system is used for electrical tests performed under high voltage. High voltage test systems include but not limited to Megger tester, hipot tester, etc. During high voltage test, if test operator accidently gets contact with the device under test, he or she may get shocked. This will cause severe injury or even death to the test operator. A high voltage test system with remote control is needed to prevent test operator from electrical shock during test.

This remote control high voltage test system is used for electrical tests performed under high voltage. High voltage test systems include but not limited to Megger tester, hipot tester, etc. During high voltage test, if test operator accidently gets contact with the device under test, he or she may get shocked. This will cause severe injury or even death to the test operator. A high voltage test system with remote control is needed to prevent test operator from electrical shock during test.

This remote control high voltage system includes:

1.      Handset with pushbuttons for turning on and off the high voltage test, up/down buttons to adjust test voltage and a timer to show test duration

2.      A transmitter in Handset to transmit pulse which is unique to specific button

3.      A receiver inside high voltage test system to pick up the signal and decode to specific operation in high voltage system

4.      A controller unit inside the high voltage system to control the high voltage system

5.      A safety barrier to prevent any people entering the test area

Test operator connect test system to device under test first. After set up, operator will control the test system via a handset outside the safety barrier with a predefined safety distance from the test as shown in Figure 1. This will ensure that the operator is free from any accident happened during the test.
