Abstract

Our invention solves the impact of water leak or water flooding happening inside Data Centers on IT systems and equipment. This invention gives a way to do not impact production and protect the equipment. The water flooding inside Data Centers is a major risk for IT Equipment.

Our solution is an IT Rack (it could be a standard 42U but also a smaller or a higher one) including water leak sensors and four motorized pillars. The pillars will raise the rack to prevent the water going inside the IT equipment.

Our invention solves the impact of water leak or water flooding happening inside Data Centers on IT systems and equipment. This invention gives a way to do not impact production and protect the equipment. The water flooding inside Data Centers is a major risk for IT Equipment.

    The best practice is to install the IT servers from the bottom to the top in an IT Rack, in order to use the cold air provided from the floor. It means a water flooding will directly impact the servers installed.

    Our solution is an IT Rack (it could be a standard 42U but also a smaller or a higher one) including water leak sensors and four motorized pillars. The pillars will raise the rack to prevent the water going inside the IT equipment.

    The water leak sensors could be wired and installed at the base of the IT Rack or wireless and installed on the floor near the potential water leak (CRAC units, water piping...).

    This solution can also be integrated in high-end servers design such as the mainframe. The IT rack embeds the following equipment : one or several water leak sensors, four motorized pillars. The motorized pillars will use the right mechanism to move the rack, it could use a toothed rack for example.
