Abstract

There are several constraints in the track & trace of the containers moved by a forklift, using the existing containers' static RFID readers. With the new mobile RFID readers located on forlifts more containers' RFID tags can be read (even if in the tags are in the lateral position of container, or too many containers overlapped), also with less constraints from the container's size versus the RFID readers' position.

Advanced integrated RFID system for pallet forklift trucks

There areseveral constraints in the track & trace of the containers moved by a forklift, using the existing containers' RFID systems (see attached figure 1), reading the related containers' RFID tags using static RFID readers (assembled in front and/or in the lateral areas of the forklift - see also the attached figure 2).

The new mobileRFID readers ensure that more container RFID tags can be read (even if in the tags are in the lateral position of the container, or if too many containers overlaps), also with less constraints from the container's size versus the RFID readers' position (see attached figures 3a, 3b, 3c, and 3d), with the follow main characteristics:

· in the upper part of the the forklift will be added two mobile poles, each one with 1 or 2 or 3 RFID readers, with different possible configurations

· during the movement of the containers, the container RFID tags can be read, with less constraints about the position of the RFID tags in the related containers and/or with less constraints in the numbers of containers overlapped in the forklift

In the alternatives below, the RFID readers are located on the forklift as in this example: :
